Gam D. Bates, Jr. GRI is a second generation REALTOR®. His father founded Gam Bates Real Estate Co. in 1959. Gam Jr. joined the firm in 1968 and took over the company in 1974 after his father’s death. In 1976 Gam and Steve Culler opened one of the first Century 21 Franchises in Forsyth County. In 1980 Century 21 Bates-Culler merged with Lambe-Young, REALTORS. In 1984 Gam was named President of Ferrell Realty (residential division). In four years the company grew from six agents to 55, and from one office to three. In 1981 Gam began teaching the fundamental real estate course (required for licensing) for Dan Mohr Real Estate School, and continued teaching day and night courses until 1991. In 1990 he re-joined Lambe-Young, REALTORS an Assistant Sales Manager and Director of Agent Training. In 1991 the Lambe-Young Real Estate School was formed and Gam was named Director-Instructor. The school has been renamed the Triad Real Estate School. Gam served as President of the Winston-Salem Multiple Listing Service and is a REALTOR® . His is a graduate of the Real Estate Institute (GRI) and has taught the North Carolina Real Estate Commission, “update course” for the local association of REALTORS. Throughout his thirty-two year career, Gam has employed, trained, motivated and counseled real estate agents throughout the Triad.
